Copied over from the common technology choices.

There's probably some overlap with other standards but this seems like one that belongs here, even if the content should just be merged into other documents.

I've no opinion on whether the content should be left here or distributed across other documents, and the content itself seems fine. My only comment would be that the language how we "surface customisations" is a bit jargon ridden, and the jargon goes beyond the purely technical (so "decoupling" would be fair enough as it has a well defined technical/"computer science" meaning, but the references to "glass" left me cold). Colloquial jargon may also cease to be intelligible rather quickly.

I think the headings for this are nice and skimmable, so it is easy to get an overview of our position. I agree with @nigejohnson that some of the sections are a little bit dense - running through Hemingway might be helpful.

Although if this is copied from any existing document, how much leeway do we have to edit this?
