Add guidance for new starters #99

What has become clear during the process is our onboarding is pretty patchy. This was especially so because

We didn't make our comms channels explicit and shotgunned our intro to the various repos. Things don't often go to plan but if we had guidance specific for new starters we'd at least have somewhere to point them to whilst we dealt with the 💩😁 .

So, let's put together an initial bit of guidance to make things a little slicker in the future.
