Future plans

This calculator is intended to be an inclusive calculator, not just focussed on disabilities or physical or mental impairments.

We are looking to integrate:

We'll also look at providing an export of data as well as improving the layout for expanding data sets.

I came across this when browsing X-gov design systems, not a contribution but praise from someone working in MOJ. I found this to be a simple yet impactful way of demonstrating the types of users we should consider when building public services. Kudos!

Thank you for this fantastic resource! Do you plan to include dyscalculia?

I work with Laura Parker and Jane McFadyen to raise awareness and support. Do you want our help to update the inclusivity calculator? https://designnotes.blog.gov.uk/2022/11/28/designing-for-people-with-dyscalculia-and-low-numeracy/

Thanks @rachelmalic this is a great item for us to include. Could you confirm the data source for the % of people who might be affected. I can see different %'s being quoted, 1 in 20 (5%)

Thank you @andyjones81 👍 The latest research shows that about 1 in 20 people have dyscalculia. This figure is from the British Dyslexia Association https://www.bdadyslexia.org.uk/dyscalculia/how-can-i-identify-dyscalculia

Low numeracy is different to dyscalculia and affects about half of adults https://www.nationalnumeracy.org.uk/research-and-resources/skills-life-survey-2011

Thanks @rachelmalic I can get these 2 stats included.

My compliments and thanks for this brilliant resource.

I'll be sharing it in my network. It would be fantastic if it inspires a similar initiative in my country.

I love this tool on your design system: https://design.education.gov.uk/learn/how-many-users# The descriptive text for colour vision deficiency doesn't align with the source data, though: Colour-blindness is more prevelant in men and affects around 1 in 10 men compared to 1 in 100 women vs Colour (color) blindness (colour vision deficiency, or CVD) affects approximately 1 in 12 men (8%) and 1 in 200 women
