"Claim" an ECT (start an induction period)

This epic covers the recording of an induction or induction period start via the AB service, including:

• Collecting TRN and date of birth
• Matching these details with a TRS record
• Matching these details with a CPD record
• Checking that the teacher is eligible to serve an induction
• • Check QTS status

• • Check induction exemption
• • Check alerts
• Checking that the teacher can be claimed by the AB
• • Check for open induction periods with a different AB
• • Check for open induction periods with the AB attempting to claim the ECT
• Prompting ABs to check the teacher's record

• Creating a new induction period

This does not cover:

• Bulk uploading induction starts to the AB service

Outcomes

Appropriate Body users are able to quickly and accurately report when they have started to support an ECT's induction via the service DfE have the data they need to collect about inductions, and teacher's statutory induction record is kept up-to-date when they start their induction
