At some point I'd like to do a video tutorial for Dreamfort.
Working title: From zero to Dreamfort
It will probably be best as a series of videos instead of one long one. Potential breakdown:
Preparation (installing embark profile, setting up control panel settings for autostart, choosing an embark site)
Breaking ground (choosing where to place the fortress, pre-unpause tasks, breaching a light aquifer, designating remainder of fort)
Getting safe (building basic defenses/barriers, setting up starter dormitory/dining hall, moving from starter workshops to underground)
Becoming self sufficient (services, build out surface fort, aquifer tap)
Satisfying needs (guildhalls/temples/library, more services, apartments)
Nobility and military (suites, crypt, start military)
Stability (quarry, finish up remaining blueprints)
with maybe an episode on defense if we get attacked somewhere during the process
Things to discuss along the way:
the tools we're enabling and what they do
the manager orders we're importing and what they do
what each blueprint changes -- what you can see and what you can't see
design considerations
Maybe have the DF window on the left, taking up most of the screen, and a panel on the right showing the checklist so people can visually follow along where we are in the process.
I intend to do this entirely armok-tool-free, with mortal mode enabled.
