More contrast change between original and hover states

@amani-anai We also need to make the "Research Home" button a bit more prominent or distinguished from all the article links within the menu. It's easy to miss. Perhaps we should consider removing it all together and place the emphasis on the large button in the far left column...?

Also, what happens wihtin the menu when new research is posted to the site? Does the menu just continue to get larger? Are we limiting the number of posts that are viewable/clickable from the menu?

@mjadavis right now it does not dynamically populate. So the items are fixed and would need to be manually updated.
