Spell "Drain Mana" in the book "of Dark Sorcery" doesn't work as advertised #31

It promises to drain 120sp, but in reality when I use the wizard command to see all the damage totals it either drains nothing from Senior Blue Wizards and the like at dlevel 60, or it drains absolute peanuts. My present debugging character is all kinds of maxxed out with nearly perfect gear and maxxed out stats, so there is no reason why the performance of this nearly the most high end spell in Sorcery specialization be that miserable.

In general Sorcery appears very weak in the end game in my testing. I cannot charm anything (they're all undead and they laugh at my attempts to charm) and my only damage is coming from "Thrust Away" in the book "of Sorcery." Maybe I am supposed to be using animate object at this dlevel? I don't know. What I do know is that most of my high end Sorcery spells appear pointless in testing so far. The animal forms don't help me with anything. Drain mana barely does anything or even nothing at all. All the mental spells seem useless because nothing is weak willed or sleeping at dlevel 60.

Considering how many nakedly obvious bugs appear along the Sorcery path (and actually in all magic in general, since I've also been playing with a druidic shaman, etc.), it's pretty obvious to me the devs have not playtested the magic users very much, or at all. Even a trivial playtesting would uncover all these bugs I am reporting, so of course it's also very likely that the spell schools are not balanced either, since why would they be balanced without any playtesting, right?

Unangband has so much potential, but it's starting to get obvious that this is a very alpha quality game. I'd love to see what this game would be like when it's actually playtested and fixed up. If I am the only one playtesting just now, this game has no future.
