Sometimes I start a new character, get one with only 2 torches and Hobbiton does not sell any torches or lanterns. I won't be deep diving into the cellars of Maggot's farm.
Maybe in Unangband towns should always have basic stuff like torches available. I would also recommend essentials like rations and word of recall as always available in towns.
