The implementation of DICOM to WSI initiated a concise way to package digital pathology images to enable interoperability. We propose to enable the power of DICOM at the intersection where there is a large amount of legacy WSI data’s presence and in need of data migration and conversion to DICOM compatible format. We propose to enhance DICOM annotations for WSI, by enabling multiple input formats to be translated as annotations allowing us to read/write graphical objects from/to DICOM files.
Deliverables
We propose developing an MVP of a DICOM-compatible WSI annotation tool with the functionalities, such as converting modern vector drawable formats like SVG as DICOM annotation objects following the sup 222 standards. In addition, the tool will allow for the bidirectional intermediary conversion of SVG overlays to/from XML or JSON formats, and generation of currently supported individual annotations from Graphical Object Sequences in DICOM standards.
