We may want to change the homepage video to be more modern, showcasing some student projects?
The About page includes a section for student portfolios. It's very outdated right now. We could expand on thie section and sort by year of graduation. It may be a pain to get every DIGIT major to send their most recent portfolio.
The Courses page has links?! I couldn't tell at first! I think it should definitely indicate in a stronger manner that the course titles are really links. I also think a full course listing with the same links should be present at the bottom of the page. I also believe it'd make more sense if the image/orientation was reversed, branching down instead of up.
On the child pages of the Courses page, the ones that contain the courses for each area of focus, the dropdowns are very obtuse, at least that was my experience. It doesn't indicate that it is a dropdown, and the arrow to collapse the dropdown must be double-clicked, and is very small.
The Events page must be updated, but you could've guessed that
I think that as we update the Student Projects page, we should create multiple pages for each year (it'd make sense to sort by school year, like Fall 2023-Spring 2024). The Art Show page has something like this. Implementing this would prevent the page from becoming too long, and I think it'd be more fun to explore.
Like Reece said, should be updated with more modern footage of DIGIT students, or DIGIT projects
I like the little explanation blurbs on the home page; for the "What would you study?" paragraph, I would maybe add a colon after "between" and remove the commas and period on the bullet points
About Page
I like the simple format, maybe the background can be updated a bit
Agree with Reece, it might be nice to sort student pages by grad year and add recent DIGIT students
Courses Page
Indicate that the tree modules have links
Student Projects Page
I don't necessarily think projects need to be split by spring/fall semesters, but they should definitely be organized by year
Alternately, they could be organized by type (modeling and simulation vs. sound and motion) and sorted by most recent to oldest
Doesn't really need to be said, but we'll update it with projects from recent years
If we keep the "thumbnail" format, rather than clicking on the thumbnails to see the title/student(s), hovering over the thumbnails should darken them and display the project title and student creator(s)
Also the heading: "Students! submit your work to be considered for this page." Link the text to here: Project proposal form" should be rewritten
At the top of the page, we could maybe have 3 or so "featured projects of the year"
Events Page
Upcoming events TBA
Old ones can probably just be deleted? or added to the archive
I agree with Jessica that we should remove the commas. It just doesn't look right to me.
The last paragraph on the home page sounds a little repetitive. I would change it to not use the word "digit" so much.
About
Update to include our names
Possibly add links to my/our names to our git hubs or other links
Courses
I agree with Reece that I also didn't realize there were links on that page. I was going to suggest we do the same thing but it had already been done.
I'd add a message at the top of the map possibly below the title saying something like :"Click on a circle to learn more about our courses!"
I would also like to add the prereqs at the bottom of the course descriptions that are on pages like dataviz.html.
Also possibly make a code at the top to say something like: "red = coding class, yellow = specializations "
For the digit 494 link we could possibly showcase different senior projects as examples to give students ideas of projects they could possibly work on
Fix the comm 270 link. It only links to the communications page with all comm classes instead of just 270. Photo 100 and Art 168 only link to those individual classes not all photo or art classes.
I would also like to change the description for data visualization for datavis.html
Also if there are minors that relate to a specialization I would like to include a link to the minor requirements
Small thing but I'm not sure I like that the first letter of the descriptions are different than the rest of the text
Student Projects
I was thinking it would be good to have the projects grouped by semester
Events
I was thinking that we could mostly just link to the newtfire pages for past digitworks
Write a list of flaws and suggestions for the DIGIT site!
