Unknown notation in UML diagram #9

For all of the UML diagrams provided in the DG, there is a 'X' symbol which does not follow the UML notations. And there is no clarification on what the 'X' is supposed to mean. This could be misleading to new developers who are trying to understand the program from the DG.
