For links, hubs, and switches (layer-2 devices):
- add the ability to configure fine-grained tc queuing disciplines for link 
effects (write your own tc netem rules, select from presets)
- set brctl parameters such as STP 
- allow assigning IP addresses to switch/hubs since the bridge supports it
