Endless Boot Cycle #298

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Have iTunes 7.4.2
2. Downgrade to 1.1.1 or 1.0.2
3. Use independence to kick out of recovery mode (both beta and latest version)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
endless reboot will try to reboot (silver apple screen for about 5 secs then
turn off and cycle
again)

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
iTunes 7.4.2 and 7.4.2 and 7.3.x on Tiger

Please provide any additional information below.

Tried the following(
http://www.iphonestalk.com/all-you-need-to-know-about-itunes-742-and-how-to-fix-
endless-reboot-loop/) but get:
----------------------------------------------------------------
Starting at Stage 4
Architecture: i386

Stage 4: 0 Looking for iPhone...
Stage 4: 1 Exiting recovery mode...
Bus error
xxxxxxxxxxxxx:/Art/endless_reboot xxxxxx$

Same problem here...

Leopard 10.5.1
iTunes 7.4.2
iNdependence 1.3 (Not the BETA)

Successfully got out of endless reboot using the tool provided at this URL:
http://iphone.nullriver.com/beta/endless_reboot

FYI, I used the obsolete instructions and was able to recover my iPhone...
Now I'm at firmware 1.0.2, jailbroken with SSH installed.

I tried doing a restore from iTunes and ended up back at the endless reboot.

Is there a way to factory reset my iPhone so I can start all from the beginning?

I'm going to try to upgrade iTunes and see if that helps, but I'm reluctant to
continue for fear of totally bricking my (company supplied) phone.
