disconnected: waiting for iphone, "Slide for Emergency" HELP! #467

I have an unlocked/jailbroken iphone. I made the mistake of updating it on
iTunes, and then got the "Slide for Emergency". I cannot do ANYTHING with
the phone. I saw on a thread that someone downloaded independence and
activated their phone and was then able to unlock and jailbreak it again. I
have downloaded iNdependance and downloaded iTunes 8 and then force quit
the iTunes Helper in Activity Monitor. But when i run iNdependance it just
says "Status: Disconnected, waiting for iphone."

Please help! What do I do?

I am not to familiar w/ unlocking phones, etc. So I need some details. Im
lost. I just want to get it back to putting my "Optus" sim card in it. I am
in Australia.

Thank you!

Hi Everyone.

So yes, my phone is now fixed. So your phone is not trash, it IS fixable.

I spent hours trying to do it myself and had no luck. I found a small shop
booth at a
market here in Melbourne, AU that specializes in fixing ALL phone problems,
including
jailbroken or unlocked iphones. They wouldnt give me details as to how they
fixed it.
But they apparantly bought a small box (looks like a router, but is not) that
you
plug the iphone into and it restores it. I am sure they is more too it, but they
would not explain it to me.

Nonetheless, its been a good 3 months now and my phone works great. It costed me
about $60 AUD. Not bad at all, considering i thought my phone was trash.

My recommendation is to find someone similar who can help you out.

Good luck guys!
