In conceptual aircraft design it is customary to take into account a contingency mass quantity when calculating the OEM, to have a more robust design and account for unexpected increase of masses in further steps of the design. This contingency mass is usually included in the mass breakdown and used for the calculation of the OEM. Therefore, we could add a mContingency elemend as a child of mEM in the mass breakdown node, described by a massDescription element:
