Range sensor layer only giving me a dot as obstacle #75

Ive been trying to use range sensor layer for the past 3 days using ultrasound data that is published as sensor_msgs/range by my arduino uno and my FOV is stated as 0.9 but my range sensor layer in costmap is only marking a single dot as the obstacle
