\ is interpreted by markdown as inline HTML, so it does not render as text. In normal text, wrap the occurrences of mandatory options (eg. \) in backtick quotes (`), so that they are rendered as a span of code.

While we are at it, fix an instance of a backtick that was transposed with the first letter: S`ystems -> `Systems
