?random and ?image=n not working as i thought it would #39

I don't mean this great tool isn't working right, i only intend to share my experience and trouble.

It looks like when you create a massive (50?) amount of posts with laravel's factory tool the ?random way isn't generating different pictures but the same over and over, probably because they all load at the same time. An alternative i found was to use ?image=n, with n being a number between 0 and (i believe) 1083 using the php line 'img_url' => 'https://picsum.photos/960/640/?image=' . random_int( 0 , 1083 ) where the function random_int generates a random integer between those values and something like https://picsum.photos/200/300?image=34 persists in the database.

Perfect!!....but....; the sequence of image's numbers is not perfect, so there are numbers pointing to nowhere (e.g.: https://picsum.photos/960/640/?image=708), and i have to delete manually those records from the database. Any suggestions to prevent that from happening?

If not, my suggestion would be preventing that list from having gaps, and problem solved!!

Hi, i've fased with same problem. Here is the link to a json object which contains all images on this service. So you can create an array with ids and get random id from it.

Or just copy this one:

Hi,

As for the problem of the same image being generated over and over, I'm not familiar with Laravel, but presumably it has some sort of cache. You should be able to bypass it by passing along a random parameter, eg:

'img_url' => 'https://picsum.photos/960/640/?random=' . rand()

The ID's just happen to be numbers, there's no guarantee for all of them in the sequence to exist, hence why there is a /list endpoint to use if you want a list of all the images, to pick from or similar. So another option would be to grab that first, and then use the list to get a list of images.
