10 years ago As far as i'm aware this is a bug with area mining in general, as technically the block has not been broken by the player it continues to give experience. Will check later.

When harvesting Ruby/Sapphire/Peridot Ore (ProjectRed-Exploration) with Industrial Jackhammer (Buildcraft Tools) that enchanced with Silk Touch I when Jackhammer's mode is 3x1, 3x3, or 3x3 (locked) gives a experience and ore block. Given ore block can be placed and can be harvested again.
