Looked into vertical responsiveness and read a bunch of blogs disagreeing with that sort of design. Scrolling is easy to do for a user and I couldn't get the map and the timeline bar to show up right away on phones even with vertical responsiveness, unless we made the text tiny as could be.

So I adjusted the container widths for the different media queries and on all my screens there was plenty of space and you could see the map and timeline right away. So hopefully that should be a good enough solution.

I think it makes the map too small (e.g., 1400 px width): image

We should maximize the map real estate if possible.
