It hurts my eyes sometimes when the brightness is high and the loading screens are a bright white.

There's a couple different styles of loading screens you could use.
My personal favorite - the rotating dots like on Windows
Maybe the rainbow pinwheel like on MacOS?
You could possibly add your own GIF to use.
A progress bar
I dunno. A progress bar would be difficult to use a GIF with as it may move at different speeds.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Possibly just a black screen, but that may cause confusion on whether or not the system crashed.
