Touch Screen works at first but randomly (and permanently) stops #2414

Flashcard or Exploits?

Exploits. Unlaunch via web browser then installed Twilight Menu then installed Unlaunch to system via Twilight Menu.

It's been working fine for a few weeks, but since I ran into the issue, I've also tried updating Twilight Menu and Unlaunch to no avail.

Base Console:

DSi w/ FW v1.4.5U

TWiLight Menu++ Version:

v27.2.2 now, bc I updated in an attempt to fix, but previously v27.1.2

TWiLight Menu++ Theme:

Nintendo DSi (No Skin or Default? Hasn't been changed)

Expected behavior

I can touch things

Actual behavior

Originally fine, but eventually touched stopped working entirely everywhere at once after a power down. Not in menus nor roms nor emulators nor settings nor cartridge games.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install TWM to a DSi
  2. Power cycle and touch the screen to see if it works
  3. Repeat # 2 until it breaks

Notes

Upgrading does not work, but I have a nand. Can I restore from the nand to get back to normal? I don't mind the couple ROMs I have on there if that might fix it

That sounds like a hardware issue, not a TWLMenu++ issue. In the Unlaunch menu, open Launcher, and check if touch still works there. If it also doesn't work in Launcher, then the touch digitizer hardware broke somehow, but if it does work, then the issue should be fixed.

Dang TWLMenu++ can break the hardware? That's wild. Okay. I guess I'll try to get a replacement screen

That's not what I said. There is also no way for homebrew apps such as TWLMenu++ apps to cause this issue.

Weird. I wonder what happened. There has been no physical damage done to the device.

Played it, turned it off and set it down next to me on a sofa, and then maybe 10 min later turned it back on and touch wasn't working. No pressure on it, no movement, nothing. I didn't even close it. Hence, why I assumed software bug, but I guess it isn't.

Thanks for the help. Hopefully the repair goes well.
