issue when installing SPiCT in Windows10 #94

Hi there,

I had my computer back from new installation of windows10 software.. Since, no way I can install SPiCT with devtools or remotes command, nor with the unzipped folder... I always have or an issue like this:

remotes::install_github("DTUAqua/spict/spict", ref = "5ae1381109890") Erreur : Failed to install 'unknown package' from GitHub: Timeout was reached: [api.github.com] Connection timed out after 10001 milliseconds

OR:

setwd("C:/Users/larivain/Desktop/spict-master") source("install_windows.R") Warning message: In shell("make install") : l'exécution de 'make install' a échoué avec le code d'erreur 2

Any idea please? I have TMB and Rtools updated!

Thank you ..

Hi @Kimangie sorry to hear that you have problems with installation again.

The error message in your first attempt says that there is not internet connection. Is it possible that you have to run Rstudio with administration rights (some people have to do that in Windows).

About the second attempt, I think this approach is not have been maintained for a long time, so I am not sure if it still works.

I am going to build a windows binary and upload in the releases section (hopefully in ~ one hour)

Make sure you have the latest version of TMB and Matrix packages before installing the binary. When loading spict if you see a warning about mismatch of package versions, you should reinstall TMB using type=source.

You can download the zip file with the binary build of spict (latest version) here.

Unfortunately, I have not have a way to test it. If you can, report back here if that works, it will be helpful for other Windows users and will be an option for installing.

Hope this helps, alex

Dear Alexandros,

So grateful for this, trouble fixed! It is in fact an administrator issue according to the direct network the university is using .. sometimes - OFTEN.. -blocking updating and uploaded from Github

Anyway thank you, all fix, I can now (I guess) try to work again with SPiCT 1.2.8!

All the best, Angela
