The fact that I filed a PR for this change is largely for bookkeeping purposes. For several months now the spack-0.20.0-gcc-12.1.0
subdirectory in the paths of the nightly builds has simply contained softlinks, and has been retained for backward compatibility - compatibility that's no longer needed. Having said that, I confirmed the following:
1) A test nightly was built using this branch (NFDT_DEV_240524_A9
) and a work area based on it "behaves" normally (I can build packages in it, etc.)
2) There's nowhere on the main branches of our codebase (develop
, production/v4
) that assumes the existence of spack-0.20.0-gcc-12.1.0
in the nightly path (there are places in XML OKS files which assume they're in frozen release paths - e.g. appfwk's test/config/appSession.data.xml
- but that's of course irrelevant here).
…buildtools expects it
