Pop'n Music - Permanent gray box on screen #195

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?

1: Load Pop'n Music v1.200 (1998)(Konami)(NTSC)(JP)(en)[!]
2: Watch gray box appear.

A gray box appears in the bottom half of the screen, making the game
unplayable. Note that this box does not appear during the SEGA screen. It
starts instantaneously when the Konami logo begins and stays for the duration
of the game being played.

I use version: 1.0.4 r50

I use nullDC_Win32_Release-NoTrace.exe

I use the following plugins:

PowerVR Plugin: 6/20/10
GDRom Plugin: 6/20/10
AICA Plugin: 6/20/10
ARM7 Plugin: 6/20/10
Maple Plugin(s): 6/20/10
Ext.Device Plugin: 6/20/10

On what kind of system?

My system specifications are as follows:

Operating System: Windows 7 x64
CPU: Intel Core i7, Q 720 @ 1.60ghz
Video Card: nVidia GeForce GTS 360M
Sound Card: Built-in "High Definition Audio Device"

Please provide any additional information below:
Please see the attached screenshots.

Thanks everyone.

As a starting point for anyone looking to fix, I think this game ran at 320x240
rather than the usual 640x480.

Interesting... Changing Z-Buffer/Sorting options doesn't fix this?

I tried all 12 combinations of Sorting + Z-Buffer, followed bu a Reset, with no
change. What I did notice though is this: The box is gray (same color as the
Dreamcast splash screen I think..), but it's only gray until you try and
stretch/resize the window, and then it turns black, I attached some screens of
this. After 2-3 instances of this, the resize will not finish, and nullDC
crashes right after the "rendering took 236.082ms" message.

Perhaps not, as issue 17 was fixed and this still occurs.

Probably related to issue 290 instead?
