basicly the only thing priiloader needs to run is:
boot0 & boot1 (doubtful these will fail as these can -NOT- be changed just like
that)
boot2
system menu IOS (a non stub version that works)
system menu title installed (doesn't matter is sys menu itself doesn't work, the
title just needs to be bootable)
so by that we can say that any type of brick that would make sys menu get stuck
can
be fixed by priiloader->HBC.
so thats
bannerbricks
title bricks
any other title/sys menu files related stuff
its not much but its something :P

so, in theory you would be able to delete any IOS but 60 (in 4.1) and 61 (HBC),
and
then use priiloader to access HBC and reinstall it?
and, if the HBC IOS is deleted (or whatever), can priiloader still access
Bootmii/IOS?
it's interesting to know which IOS are safe to mess with, for example using
dop-ios
or pimp my wii.
it's not (very) much, but for us without Bootmii/boot2 it is ALL :D
Original comment by Kevin.Raptor@gmail.com
on 1 Mar 2010 at 8:48
actually, also ios36. both HBC and priiloader use IOS 36 for homebrew
and yes if HBC is deleted or can't boot priiloader can load bootmii ios cause
starting bootmii ios is just a IOS Reload of ios245
basicly, ios36,HBC ios, Bootmii ios (if installed) and system menu ios should
always
work.

thank you very much daco, now it's clearer. I think this information should be
somewhere here and in the WiiBrew page.
you said it's not much, but I guess priiloader covers almost 100% of bricks we
can
make doing usual things (like installing wads, ios, etc). We do not touch that
critical things every day :p

Actually it doesn't protect against ANY brick.
I managed bricking my 2nd Wii while this was installed and had no way of
reversing it.
So I wouldn't mod my Wii without reading the readme file or post first if I was
you.

what. youre wrong on every way possible. priiloader DOES stop bricks but
apparently
you were foolish enough to have a IOS/system menu title brick (which priiloader
wont
help you with)
in which both you failed horribly ;)
Original comment by dac...@gmail.com
on 21 Mar 2010 at 7:03
actually, bricking your wii on itself is one hell off an art. i dont have
bootmii as
boot2 and during the priiloader progress ive only managed to almost brick my
wii twice...
and since you managed to brick your wii with priiloader installed im guessing
you
wanted to downgrade and you used some shitty tool like wankers downgrader or you
didn't use your head

Daco dude....just answer this one question.
Does this priiloader work for all system menu(3.4 for example)
If it dont then, you need to make one with all system menu available. i bet
youll
get alot of downloads and fame! :)
P.S i dont want to downgrade thats why im asking this question
Original comment by jmafiak...@gmail.com
on 21 Mar 2010 at 9:57
eventhough i find downgrading a stupid thing, priiloader should be able to be
installed on every system menu.
however, only the upcoming priiloader 0.4 will support the startup of system
menu 2.x

Original comment by jmafiak...@gmail.com

sigh,
you screwed up something thats for sure.
we installed the beta on ALL E AND U SYSTEM MENU'S AND IT BOOTED ALL FINE AND
WORKED
PERFECTLY (as in, all 2.x , 3.x & 4.x system menu's)
however, did you try holding reset and then pressing power to boot?
also, thats indeed what you get with beta's. 0.3 works on all E&U system menu's
(except 2.x) as well AND is fully tested.
Original comment by dac...@gmail.com

Reading this thread I understand that I can install the 0.4 on my 3.4 System
Menu.
The same is valid for the latest 0.3, is that right?
In many places I've read that for the 3.4 menu there are no hacks available in
priiloader. Is that right? What kind of things will not work on this system
menu?
Anyways, the main reason that I have to install priiloader is for brick
protection,
as I have no change to use bootmii as boot2.
I'm missing an "official howto" with the steps to install it. Reading on
priiloader
help I
My Trucha IOS is 16. With the signcheck 0.3b it's marked as "Trucha bug" and
"Flash
access". In all places that talk about priiloader talk about IOS 36. Is enough
with
installing it with my current configuration or I really have to do something to
IOS 36?
I think that the wiibrew page about priiloader is missing many information, some
basic as the how to install it and the requirement. It would help.
Anyways, I want to thank you devs for working on this application.

Patch your IOS36 with all patches using DOP-Mii and install using the + button.
I
wouldn't trust cios if I were you, Waninkoko's been fiddling with so many
things in
the IOS that it broke SNEEK compatibility once, so just stick to the simple
stuff,
stay away from betas and you should be fine. No guarantees though :P
Original comment by lpq...@gmail.com

from what i heard cios has been fucked on so many levels recently
anyway, i still haven't heard the full story of the "bricked" wii from
jmafiakin. let
alone hear what happend during the install.
and since it happend during the install off 0.4 im VERY interrested in it

I got a bit confused with the latest comment.
So, to be clear, having System menu 3.4.
IOS 16 with Trucha and Flash Enable
CIOS 249 rev17
IOS 36 virgin (just homebrew channel installed)
In theory, I don't have to do anything else than just installing priiloader,
doesn't
it? That means, that having CIOS 249 I don't have the need to patch IOS 36.
Please,
confirm me this, as I'm a bit confused.
Thanks in advance.
Original comment by aironm...@gmail.com

that is correct. if you hold B and then press + it should install using
CIOS(249)
Original comment by dac...@gmail.com
on 25 Mar 2010 at 5:18
in theory you don't, BUT! I recommend you update using Pimp My Wii to 4.1, patch
IOS36 and use it to install Priiloader. There are no reasons to keep 3.4.
Original comment by Kevin.Raptor@gmail.com
on 25 Mar 2010 at 5:18
true, 3.4 is kinda not needed :)
Original comment by dac...@gmail.com
on 25 Mar 2010 at 5:19
Thank you for your messages, you're very kind and helpful.
The only problem about updating than I have is that I have no chance to use
bootmii
as boot2.
I have done some test using showmiiwads and sneek, installing IOS 60 and the
system
menu 4.1, but I find it a "dangerous thing to do" if there's a real need for it.
Please correct me if not. Thanks again.

Daco dude, I have more questions :D
I'm making a wiki of Priiloader in a Spanish website (elotrolado.net), and I
have
doubts about the purpose of some options (I don't know what they are):
- Stop disc on startup
- Light slot on error
Also, can you explain quickly how to set a password, please? I'm not interested
on
that so I don't wanna mess up something :p
For now, there are no more questions!
btw, the URL of the wiki is: http://www.elotrolado.net/wiki/Priiloader
Original comment by Kevin.Raptor@gmail.com
on 14 Apr 2010 at 7:21
the stop disc on startup will stop your wii drive from spinning when you power
on,
return to system menu or shutdown (eventho shutdown always stops the drive).
the light slot on error will make the wii drive light turn on when an priiloader
error occurs.
as for the password; i dont know. baduncle knows that stuff
Original comment by dac...@gmail.com
on 14 Apr 2010 at 8:13
thx!! more questions to the wiki :)
is there any "how to" for the password anywhere? if not, never mind...
also, is it true that if you run the installer from bannerbomb/another exploit
or
from priiloader itself, you don't need any patched IOS at all to install it? or
actually do you need any patched IOS with this way?
Original comment by Kevin.Raptor@gmail.com
on 16 Apr 2010 at 11:18
that was something i figured out but was soon popped untrue (partly)
you do need a patched ios when run from bannerbomb , but only trucha is needed.
unlike when run from HBC (in that case you need es_Identify+trucha or nand
permissions in ios 36).
and as i said about the password stuff, you'll need to mail baduncle for that.
i dont
know anything about it

Original comment by Kevin.Raptor@gmail.com

also, you said when run installer from bannerbomb only trucha is needed... I
understand it is in IOS36, isn't it?
Original comment by Kevin.Raptor@gmail.com

[deleted comment]
normally ppl have trucha bug in ios 36, but when using bannerbomb you aren't
using
ios36 but the ios of the system menu instead (ios 60 or 70 since bannerbomb only
works on 4.0,4.1 & 4.2)
so that ios should have trucha if you are installing priiloader trough
bannerbomb (or
you can still use cios/ios 249)
Original comment by dac...@gmail.com
on 19 Apr 2010 at 4:54
mmm ok, I got it. but as far as I know bannerbomb v1 does work with SM 3.0 and
above
(except 4.2), and bannerbomb v2 with SM 4.x.
no more questions, Your Honor!! :D thx very much.
Original comment by Kevin.Raptor@gmail.com

its the other way around
banner bomb v2 is 4.2 only and v1 is 4.0/4.1
Original comment by dac...@gmail.com

are you sure, dude? check the official website:
http://bannerbomb.qoid.us/
pick a version:
v1 - compatible with Wii Menu version 3.0 - 4.1
v2 - compatible with Wii Menu version 4.2 (only) (but I do know it works in 4.1
too)
Original comment by Kevin.Raptor@gmail.com
