What you need is basically the same thing you have now, but now adding yet another damn bell which would be the resolution of the data, which would be done before splitting things up. That would allow you to split up west coast-not west coast at different resolutions still

Done and done, can now both aggregate fine scale models up, and fit to lower resolution data
