Date has been changed to avoid clashes with UN World Data Forum (#226) and the GEO-XV Plenary.
My session details for the week sit at https://github.com/Daniel-Mietchen/events/blob/master/International-Data-Week-2018.md .
I met Nonso Jideofor of https://www.theengineroom.org/ , an NGO whose "mission is to accelerate social change" and that "helps activists, organisations, and other social change agents make the most of data and technology to increase their impact." - from https://www.theengineroom.org/about/ .
Spoke to https://twitter.com/phaikyeong about making ethics data FAIR and sent her the link to https://github.com/Daniel-Mietchen/events/blob/master/PIDapalooza-2016.md.
I set up https://preview.tinyurl.com/IDW2018Wiki to point to https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Daniel_Mietchen/International_Data_Week_2018 , which has the posters.

Generic note: there is a severe lack of power outlets around the venue, so I am often closing my laptop to safe battery, taking notes on the phone instead, which is less convenient and thus less comprehensive.

One of the most interesting sessions for me was on data sovereignty, particularly from the perspective of indigenous data. Unfortunately, the WiFi in the room was basically down, and so was my laptop's battery, so I don't have any notes but still some positive memories that just crossed my mind again.
