Here is how the submission page with the conference themes looks like:
And here is the submission form (in three pages):
I think Wikimedia projects could be presented from the perspective of each of these themes, but the best fits perhaps are
Amongst the session types on offer, I am not a big fan of panels, so I will consider Flash Talk and Poster. However, I find a one-slide limit for a Flash talk too constraining unless that slide is a poster in #betterposter style, similar to the ones I have done in the past for neuroscience, chemistry and the research ecosystem more broadly, so I might as well just go for the poster session and complement the poster with a video, as I have done in all three of these cases anyway.
Here are my questions to the main questions from Page 1:
The SDGs and the Wikipedia ecosystem: lots of opportunities for the GCSE community to engage
Targets and Timelines
(50 words maximum)
The ecosystem around Wikipedia contributes to and is influenced by the Sustainable Development Goals in multiple ways, which this poster will outline. Some SDGs (e.g. 4/education & 17/partnerships) are prominent in Wikimedia activities, others (e.g. 1/poverty & 7/energy) less so. Given its popularity, Wikipedia provides ample opportunities for engagement around environmental decision-making.

When I submitted the above and moved on to page 2, I got an error message:
After submission of page 2, I got an error again:
When trying to submit page 3, I got an error too:
Judging from those error numbers, I am not the only one having problems. I suspect that the underlying reason for the errors might have something to do with the word counting, since I always hit the limit exactly.
Let me test that by removing some of the text from page 1.
I removed one word from each of the 3 form fields with word limits, yet the errors are persisting. So I am pasting below what I see on the Preview page (which was in a format I could not take a complete screenshot of):

Ronin Institute, Ronin Scholar, United States of America (the) Submission Title The SDGs and the Wikipedia ecosystem: lots of opportunities for the GCSE community to engage Focus Area Targets and Timelines Abstract
Preferred Session Type Poster Presentation Presentation Description
Wikipedia exists in about 300 languages, and the ecosystem around it (called Wikimedia for short) consists of further websites like Wikidata, Wikisource, Wikiquote, Wikispecies or Wikimedia Commons, all of which curate SDG-related content and engage in other SDG-related activities. Attendees of this presentation will become more aware of the multi-faceted network of interactions between the Wikimedia and SDG ecosystems and how they relate to environmental decision-making and the GCSE 2022 themes in particular. The overview presented here builds on similar overviews previously presented (e.g. for coverage of COVID-19) as well as ongoing efforts to map Wikimedia activities to SDGs at higher granularity (i.e. including Targets and Indicators, as well as more specific Wikimedia activities). The goal of presenting this poster at GCSE 2022 is to get researchers, decision-makers, educators, science journalists, science communicators and others in the GCSE community interested in more systematic interactions with the Wikimedia ecosystem, and to provide an entry point for that. The fit between the presentation and the conference theme "The Road to 2030: Tipping Points Toward a Climate Positive Future" has multiple dimensions. For instance, a more collaborative, Wikipedia-style approach to gathering, verifying, sharing, curating and mobilizing knowledge related to environmental decision-making could represent a social tipping point. Another dimension is that the overlap between the conference theme and Wikimedia activities is such that the list of Priority Focus Areas could serve as Table of Contents for the poster. If accepted, the poster shall be available via DOI:10.5281/zenodo.5542517 by the time the presentation starts.

I tried to submit again and this time got the error 5948421
, so I will give up here and send the organizers a link to this GitHub ticket instead.
I sent off the email — let's see what that gives.
I also pinged them via Twitter.
I pinged the provider of the submission system too.
@Daniel-Mietchen We're very sorry for the frustration. We just fixed it and you should be able to submit now.
OK, thanks, @roryc89 !
as per https://www.gcseconference.org/call-for-session-proposals .

Perhaps @ainali and/ or @Bluerasberry would like to join.
