What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Any time I try to convert a FLAC file to Apple Lossless

How about the reproducibility (always, sometimes, rarely, ...)?
Always, all files

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
An audio file that plays without auditory blemishes.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
XLD: 20121027 (142.1)
OSX: 10.8.2

Please provide any additional information below.
The product of trying to convert any FLAC audio file to Apple Lossless audio 
results in a product that seems to be modulated in key and is glitching as a 
steady rate.  Would like to attach file but lossless is too big.

Well, which software did you use to play the apple lossless file?
