User reports long calibration times #215

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
The initial calibration used to take ~3-4 minutes before and now take over 10.
I haven't gotten far enough to see a meridian flip, so I can't comment on that
working or not. The weather has crapped out here, so I haven't had a chance to
try and dial in the PHD configuration.

There is not enough information here to say whether this is a bug or user
error, e.g. too small calibration step size, calibrating near the pole,
mechanical problem, calibrating on a hot pixel, etc. etc...

It would probably be better to discuss these types of reports in the discussion
group or in the yahoo group before logging a defect report here in the issue
tracker.

At a minimum, we need debug and guide log files to start diagnosing this.

before *what* ???

I recommend we close this issue, then log a new issue (or reopen this one)
after we have determined that there really is a code defect or enhancement
request and not operator error or some other condition outside of phd2.

There is nothing actionable on this issue. I see no point in keeping it open
any more.
