PHD does not connet to the mount using on camera connection. Camera is Moravian G1-300. #401

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. use PHD 2.4.1
2. connect camera to the computer (USB 2.0 port)
3. select ASCOM Camera and connect camera
4. camera is connected and working (taking pictures), but button for mount
connection is disabled.

other scenario

1. use PHD 1.14
2. connect camera to the computer (USB 2.0)
3. select ASCOM Camera and connect camera
4. connect mount. In the status bar of PHD window appear message: "FAIL:
OnCamera connection".

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
This failure occurs on WIN 7 (32 or 64bits). Camera has latest ASCOM driver
from manufacturer (http://www.gxccd.com/download?id=384&lang=405)

Please provide any additional information below.
ST4 connector is functional. I tested guiding with other software using camera
system (not ASCOM) driver.

The first scenario is not a bug, it sounds like the correct behavior. If you
have set the mount connection to "on-camera", then connecting to the camera is
all you need to do. The mount connection button is redundant at that point and
is intentionally disabled - the states of connection must be identical in this
scenario.

What is happening with PHD 1.14 is not part of the PHD2 (open phd) project, so
that's something you should take up on the Stark Labs site.

If you think I've misunderstood what you're describing, please respond with
more details. Otherwise, we'll close this issue as "not a bug."

fun2mas,

We like to reserve this tracking system for tracking bugs. Basic questions
about operating PHD2 are best addressed by posting your question on the forum

 https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/open-phd-guiding

Please try asking there, we'd be glad to help out.

Hello Andy.

Sorry, but I cannot find this information. Thank you for explanation.

I try to guide without connecting to the mount, but button PHD was disabled too
(see attachments). I found option to enable DEBUG log in PHD2. After quick
search in this log I found these lines:
.
.
.
19:50:13.489 00.005 8216 Status Line 0: Connecting to Mount ...
19:50:13.490 00.001 8216 Error thrown from scope_onboard_st4.cpp:73->Attempt to
Connect Onboard ST4 mount when host does not have guide output
19:50:13.500 00.010 8216 Throw from gear_dialog.cpp:956->OnButtonConnectScope:
connect failed
19:50:13.501 00.001 8216 Status Line 0: Mount Connect Failed
19:50:13.506 00.005 8216 Connected AuxScope:None
.
.
.

This camera has ST4 port (http://www.gxccd.com/art?id=328&lang=409) and this
camera is guiding using this port. Unfortunately this does not work using ASCOM
driver. Andy, I agree with you. You can close this issue. This is probably
ASCOM driver bug, not a PHD2 bug.

Thank you boys for DEBUG log option. It really helps.

Best regards,
Tomáš Maruška
