Random cleanup postrevert

cleaned up commenting in some files and added some of the changes we lost after reverting (this file includes the mailer setup with .env and changes made to client.handlebars). contact form validation isn't complete but I wanted to make this commit before continuing work on that in lieu of doing a reset on master so we wouldn't lose the other changes we made last night
