Most likely you need to install a newer version of Git for Windows that
provides a git.exe in PATH.

I have installed a new version! http://git-scm.com/downloads
Also I have tried putting a git.exe in path, maybe I'm doing it wrong? Wasn't
sure whether to link it to the one in the bin directory or the cmd directory,
I've tried both and it still doesn't work. Thanks for the response though.

The Git installer should give you the option to set that up for you.

Your PATH variable needs to include something like:

C:\Git\cmd

It needs to be a directory, you can't (unfortunately) just add a specific
executable to PATH.

If its working you should be able to open a new command prompt type 'git.exe'
(with the extension) and have it find it.

Yes opening a new command prompt and typing git.exe does work. And yes it was
pointing to that directory.
