27 March 2013. Methods. Going through the prior literature seeking information about how they have discussed and framed arguments and research around transport columns in WWI. there isn't much available that tis coherent. The Van Creveld book has been very useful. So has Berry.

Compared to the Berry book which looked at the industrial, commercial and political, the problems definitely relate to the problems of raising horses, feeding them and movement results. they were becoming inefficient as a result.

Specificity and rationale is important here - why am I taking this approach. Framing the approach to the literature review.

Don't be too worried about this being all done before, this information all helps to frame your approach to an intervention in the overall historiography.

Demonstrate your knowledge of the literature, sources and archives. Taking time to move through each work is useful.

Constantly ask why is this significant? Reveal the strength and weaknesses of your sources.
