Starting New Save File Crashes Blender While smd importer/exporter is enabled #91

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Enable smd importer/exporter
2.Start new file or Ctrl+N and confirm

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

After clicking "Reload Start Start-Up File" the application freezes for 5 to 6 
seconds, then I receive a "Runtime Error!." Then, upon clicking "OK" Blender 
stops working and I can only close the program.

What version of Blender and the SMD Tools are you using? On what operating
system?

I am using Blender 2.67b
I am using io_smd-tools-1.8.2

Please provide any additional information below.

Previous versions of either worked.

Can you reproduce this error?

It's almost certainly a Blender bug that has nothing to do with my code.
