[Suggestion] Early age buildcraft filter pipe (Diamond Pipe) #2131

I'm attempting some automation in age 4 using buildcraft pipes and I need to filter my outputs to 2 drawers. Ordinarily I would use a diamond pipe for sorting, but there is no such beast in age 4. Any chance to make the diamond pipe use a different material that is available earlier on? Maybe change the name to filter pipe and change the recipe to use aluminum or lead or something?

You have access to a block from Modular Routers, with great Filtering and routing options. Just put that at the end of your Pipe. Even in Age 5 you won't have enough diamonds to waste them on a BC diamond pipe most likely. Not until you have been to Neptune and made a Diamond Seed etc.

Modular Routers has great filtering / routing and is a great un-explored mod.

Age 4 automation with Modular Router Sender Mk2 - Teleporting items ! Amazing https://gyazo.com/e0b2905927d30a5c81252b08b3247558

Inductive Logistics is a complete replacement for BC pipes doesn't require a Redstone Engine and has all kinds of filtering options.

Item Router from IE with conveyors can filter / route things.

Steve's Carts can route / sort things.

There are plenty of routing / sorting options in Age 4, Automation is made easier in Age 5.

My recommendation stands.

I chose buildcraft as my piping option, and as this pack is about playing the way you want to play, I would like to complete my simple build using buildcraft. I know there are other options in the pack to complete my task, and I have been using them, but that doesn't mean that the pack wouldn't be better if it were possible to use Buildcraft to complete my project.

The pack would be better with a buildcraft filtering pipe. Please consider adding this.

I think the pack is about exploring new mods and a tech demo for a new way to have progression system. Doing it your way would be FTB Revelations pack.

I too would have liked to be able to make sorting pipes from Buildcraft in age 4 with the rest of the early Buildcraft pipes. I tried Modular Routers when I needed a dropper, and it seemed the dropping module caused item duplication sometimes. I do not trust Modular Routers any more.

Something similar happened with the universal pipes that you can put item extraction/insertion bits onto. I was using those for automating inscribers, and items were vanishing. I no longer trust those, which is a shame because they had a lot of nice features and were simple to set up.

To me, this pack gives a good sampling of 1.12 mods: some returning favorites, some dying classics, and some new mods of varying quality and balance. I would have liked to have Buildcraft to fall back on when other methods failed me.

(Modular Routers dev here) If you're seeing dupe issue with Modular Routers then please raise an issue on the MR GitHub page rather than just making comments about it here. I do actively monitor it, and I will fix any confirmed duping issues very quickly.
