Clicking "Spectate World" Respawns Player on "Are You Afraid of the Dark" Mode in Dedicated Server #2221

Bug Description

When playing on a Sky Factory 4.2.4 dedicated server with "Are You Afraid of the Dark" hardcore topography, dying and clicking "Spectate World" simply respawns the player instead of entering spectator mode.

Did this behavior use to work in the previous version?

Unsure but it works when creating a world locally.

Steps to Reproduce (for bugs)

  1. Start a dedicated server with "Are You Afraid of the Dark" set
  2. Die
  3. Click Spectate World

As I was posting this I just thought of a possible cause, tested it and sure enough it was the issue. In server.properties I had hardcore=false even though the game shows your hardcore hearts and prompts you to spectate upon death. Setting hardcore=true resolved the issue.
