A topic that came up a while ago was giving a player the chance to customize his character's class a bit.

One option that was discussed was branching classes / specializations

Another simpler implementation was having the ability to add new spells / skills while having the ability to remove ones from a class. The way I envision this actually being applied is having a class of skills and spells that could be added like a guildspell. Then the imm would simply set the skill or spell to 0 that is to be removed.

For example a warlock could sacrifice his attack spells (a la ravage) for a new family of useful spells (a la dragon's breath.)

Classes could definitely use more customization. One always has to consider the PK balance implications though. so when overhauling classes to this degree it's never really simple or easy. However, I agree it needs to be done. The current class system is way too stiff.
