https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/releases/tag/v0.62.0 introduces a new "Quick Accent" feature, which looks very similar to SymWin. Caveat: PowerToys works only on recent versions of Windows 10 and 11 (some executables can be extracted and used standalone on older versions of Windows, though. I will investigate).

It is implemented in PowerToys from the standalone PowerAccent
