Required Services Not Running for PeerBlock #374

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Open Peerblock
2. User Account Control Needs my Permission to continue, click yes
3. Window pops up that says "Required services not running" (see attached .jpg)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see the program activate. Instead I see Step #3 (attached picture)

What version of PeerBlock are you using? On what operating system? 32- or
64-bit?
The Stable 1.0 version - Vista 64 bit

Please provide any additional information below. Make sure to attach
peerblock.log and/or any screenshots that would help explain your problem.

I used msconfig to activate the Base Filtering Engine, and the IKE and AuthIP
IPsec Keyring Modules, but couldn't find the IPsec Policy Agent in msconfig. I
tried again to start Peerblock, but it came up with the same error message.

I have the exact same problem, and I'm using the same settings except I have
the v1.1 stable release. I uninstalled/reinstalled Peerblock v1.1, system
restored to the week before the problem started, and nothing has changed...

Please help!

Same problem.

I removed the win 7 internet security malware using the procedures I found here:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-win-7-antispyware-2012
This included running FixNCR.reg

Tried system restore etc etc, no joy.

Same exact problem, it all started after I removed the win Vista Antivirus 2012
program as well. In order to properly remove the program I had to make changes
to my registry, and ever since I did that I haven't been able to use peerblock
:(.

Possible solution:

I had the exact same problem as the above post for at least 2 weeks. I was
careless enough to get infected with the virus again. It seemed once that
happened, I could use peerblock again. I also did a system restore, though I
did several before the reinfection to no aid to the issue. OI later was able to
remove the virus without deleting the same files. I see no signs of the virus
and it is clean at least according to malware bytes and panda.

Verify that those services are running. Like the error message says, for some
reason one or more from those services isn't running. I never had such problem,
so it's something on your machine or OS. It works fine on Windows 7
Professional 32bit and 64bit.
