I've activated GitHub Pages and am waiting for it to render. In the meantime I found a good suggestion on how to retain older versions of your page via Jekyll here.
The new site will be located here when ready: https://darwin-river.github.io/
This worked. I'm able to access my site from https://darwin-river.github.io/robotics. However, I don't think this is going to get me where I want to be with the revision histories. Rather I switched to a dark theme on the main GitHub site and will use this to present and link to progress at specific points in time.
Apparently you can configure GitHub to automatically publish a website from your content. This may help me replace Obsidian. However, I'm not sure if it will allow for links to historical content. I'll need to check this out.
