Summary
The slab concept is a 5 inch tablet with a 800 x 480px touch screen powered by a Raspberry Pi CM4. The design is intended to be very minimal, with a power button, volume buttons, head phones, micro-SD card, two usb-c inputs and speakers.
The construction is intended to be tinker-friendly and easy to repair. With two parts of a rectangular case that screw together to hold the shell together. On the back there are two additional panels, one for the Compute Module and Battery that are made accessible for the user to be able to switch them out or upgrade as needed.
The appeal of the design is to use with existing telescopic controllers intended for phones. A user could switch between different controller styles and even orientations depending on the game. The
5:3
aspect ratio is intended to be a middle ground for retro content that could fill the screen with minimal stretching.
