Description:
I'm experiencing an issue with the Dashlane extension on the Brave browser (specifically on macOS) concerning the integration with Apple Watch for authentication. This issue may affect other platforms, but I have not verified this.
Expected Behavior:
Normally, when the MacBook is closed (clamshell mode), the authentication should fall back to Apple Watch when Touch ID is unavailable due to the closed lid. This was the behavior up to about a year ago, which was great! I want to highlight the fact that when my MacBook is open, the Apple Watch unlock works.
Current Behavior:
Currently, when the MacBook is in clamshell mode, the Dashlane extension neither prompts for Touch ID (which is normal) nor does it request authentication via Apple Watch. Initial suspicions were towards a Brave browser issue, however, I did find settings that need the admin (password) and Brave correctly requests the use of Apple Watch in clamshell mode, pointing towards an issue within the Dashlane extension itself.
Steps to Reproduce:
Close the MacBook lid to switch to clamshell mode.
Attempt to authenticate with Dashlane using Apple Watch.
Expected Result:
The Dashlane extension should prompt to authenticate via Apple Watch when the MacBook is in clamshell mode.
Actual Result:
No prompt is given for Apple Watch authentication, and the user is left without a method to authenticate through Dashlane, just redirection to use your passkey as shown below.
Environment:
MacBook 2019, Intel
macOS Sonoma 14.4.1
Brave Browser v1.65.123
Dashlane - Version 6.2417.2
Attachments:
Mac opened:
The popup do touchid and the applewatch.
Mac closed:
or
Brave with Mac closed:
P.S.: I couldn't find the Dashlane repository for the Chromium extension to add the issues. If you could tell me where it is, I will happily repost it here. Or could you ping them there?
