After a few discussions with @robwhite4, its apparent that being able to control output for printing double-sided manuals would be extremely useful and could push Grits (or, at least, the docs plugin) into a place of providing something that nothing else seems to provide.
Along the same lines, we should investigate adding more features for full-page customization and templating to allow for the production of prefab document structures. One reference example, of many, can be found here: http://graphicriver.net/item/proposal-template/3523858
