SQLServer Customization #3187

Open husmanjr opened 7 years ago

husmanjr commented 7 years ago

We would like to monitor considerably more information then can be provided in the dm_os_performance_counters view. we have some custom queries that we use to date to monitor top sql, job status, statistics and some other factors inside sql server. We would like to add these custom queries to the SQL Server yaml or py files similar to the functionality that can be obtained from MySQL. Is this possible? How can this be accomplished?

Thank you,

I have tried to add a function to the sqlserver.py but this is not erring but is not providing the information requested to the datadog page for monitoring.

I'd also like to know how to/if it is possible to monitor results from custom queries similar to how is currently possible with mysql.

@husmanjr Have you found any resources yet?

I have not, we are still trying to utilize this system but require more customization in what we can query. We would like to get job status and other things like that out of this as we do with the MySQL monitors.

Thank you,

J.R. Husmann Database Engineer
