An alternative would be to run a shorter session during the OBFS concurrent sessions track. Here's details on the call that just came out for those:
Dear OBFS members,
Have you attended an OBFS Annual Meeting and wished there was a concurrent session about a topic, but it wasn’t on the program? Or are you planning on attending this year’s meeting and want to share your experience with a certain topic?
Now is the time to propose concurrent sessions for the Annual Meeting. These will occur on Thur/Fri Sept 14-15 and are scheduled for 90 minutes each. Occasionally a topic will continue over 2 sessions (3 hours, but in 90 min blocks). You can propose your idea here: https://forms.gle/J8thHH2RptN3Z1NH7 Hybrid options are preferred so we can include folks who can’t attend in person.
Please propose your idea by APRIL 30. The Planning Committee will review proposals and finalize the program with the OBFS board in early May.
Share your knowledge, share your experience, support your field station colleagues!
Pura Vida!
As the dates for OBFS 2023 approaches (September 11-16th, 2023), what are the remaining items of the agenda for this event? For example, these are a few lingering questions I have:
@angiegarciaa you should definitely arrange travel asap. Happy to chat about that on slack this week, and we should touch base with @aebudden about her plans. And yes, the sessions need more work -- please reach out to Amber about what needs to be done, as she submitted the proposal and probably has the best sense of where things are at.
We have an opportunity to run a workshop at OBFS this year that targets field stations. It's in Costa Rica, which would be really fun too (although probably expensive travel)! We could do so on a variety of different topics, but some that come to mind including:
Workshop proposals are due March 1st. See announcement below.
