During the meetings last week, with the hub - and with the NCEAS MDC team dev meeting - we decided that DataONE right now is displaying total_metrics whereas CDL and Zenodo are displaying unique_metrics.
Because of this we're really not considering the session information even though we're processing the events for sessions. We've all the information on our end - i.e. all the four metrics - total_investigation, total_requests, unique_investigation, unique_requests. The only thing we need to change is what the service would return from the backend.
