I am planning to move a large collection of work on mnlite representing many improvements over the past eleven months to main. The code included in this PR has been tested and is working well.

Most of the commits included were due to the addition of mnonboard, but I've listed other major changes below.

Hi @datadavev, when you've got a moment, I'd like you to take a look at some of the changes I've made to mnlite to see if you think they're appropriate before I merge them. I've been using this branch in operations on the staging server and production out of necessity, so it's gotten a fair bit of testing. If you'd like to hop on a call to discuss I'm happy to do that.
