I think we should have a protected develop branch

@David-the-zen keen to hear your opinion on this. Do you think we need one? I figure it would be a good idea to have a stable branch (master) and a development branch (develop). Especially if we decide to have the project hosted somewhere in future. Seems to be the standard way of doing things. Or do you think it's not necessary for our purposes?
